I can’t believe we’re halfway through season 2 of Only Murders in the Building! It seems like there’s no way we can be this far into the season. Who has been the standout character for you this season?
*this post will contain spoilers for season 2, episode 5, “The Tell”
My Thoughts & Reactions
Last week, my post was more reaction-based, and I’m going to keep doing that this week.
We picked up right where we left off last week- Charles is visiting Jan in prison. It was…. enlightening. When she first asked “are we ok?” I was left wondering what is she smoking in prison and where can I get some. And then, she hit us with this…
I don’t get hung up on the details, it’s the feelings that matter.
Jan (Amy Ryan)
That line sum up the current state of the world perfectly. I wasn’t expecting this episode to make me get all political (or hint at it), but here we are. You never really know where this show is heading, and I love it for that!
I was definitely happy to see the mega-fans again! But, the completely glossed over the fact that Marv knew about the passageways – that’s got to be coming back later, right? And did anyone else notice how Mabel just left the freaking list of ‘regulars’ on the table??? No wonder they can be framed so easily- they don’t exactly make it difficult!

Charles at a party…. he is me. I am Charles. But, of course Oliver’s interruption of “drugs!” eases the tension. And I’m reminded that in middle school you’re taught that every party when you’re older will have that exact same scene. Yet none of them do… or at least none that I’ve been too, but again, I’m not exactly cool.
I liked the idea of Oliver’s party game though. But can we talk about 1 thing I’ve yet to see mentioned??? Charles’ hair in the 70s scene!!!! I mean…. wow. Other than that, the party was boring. The big ‘reveal’ at the end was weird, especially since they’re having that discussion in front of the huge group. But again, that further proves my point that Alice just wants attention. She can play the victim, the unfortunate girl who did ‘what she had to do,’ and no one will criticize her for it.
Great. Now Jan and Charles are phone buddies. This is only gonna get worse. If he brings those f-ing bagels to her in prison I’m gonna throw my iPad. (about 20 seconds after typing this, I managed to exercise some control and not throw my iPad. But in my head, I absolutely was.)
My Theories After “The Tell”
This episode didn’t really change my theories. We learned a lot more about the characters, but nothing that struck me as an important clue. Even with Oliver and Charles considering Alice as the killer, it didn’t seem right. I think Alice just saw Mabel in a time of need, and decided to use her as a way of making a name for herself as an artist. This episode spent a lot of time on casting suspicion on Alice, and while it proved she is a liar, it only made me want her to go away more than I already did.
Teddy is Will’s father. OMG. I mean it was obvious that Oliver wasn’t – they set that up at the beginning of the episode. But I wasn’t expecting Teddy! Is this why Teddy agreed to fund “Splash” for Oliver? Because he felt guilty? Does Teddy even know Will is his son?

So, what did you think of this episode of Only Murders in the Building?
