Puck Yes is the next book in Lauren Blakely’s My Hockey Romance series. Book 1, Double Pucked, released in June of this year and features a ‘why choose’ romance between two professional hockey players and best friends, and a girl seeking revenge on her ex. This time, the focus is on Ivy (younger sister of Ryker from book 1), the team captain, and the team’s newest player.

The Story
After Ivy finds out her ex was cheating on her with her boss and sees their wedding announcement, Ivy rage quits her job. While heading home, she unloads her problems onto the stranger in the elevator, and by the time she walks out, has a date for her ex’s wedding.
Hayes is the newest addition to the Avengers hockey team, and is determined to earn a contract with the team. Lucky for him, the team captain, Stefan, is an old teammate from college.
Ivy begins working as the new team mascot, and finds herself on the receiving end of both guys’ attention. While on a team trip in Vegas, Hayes and Ivy get married on a dare. That night, Stefan joins the newlyweds in the… celebration. But, when they are on their way to have the marriage annulled, the team owner finds them, and has the newlyweds added to an exclusive event.

Final Verdict on Puck Yes
Ivy’s ex ended their relationship because he wanted a girlfriend upgrade. He wanted someone who could help give him more exposure and gain popularity. But I never understood ‘the why.’ Other then his business proposition he approaches Stefan about, what was there? And then, he and his wife-to-be ask Ivy to ‘cover’ their wedding. But why? Who were these followers that were invested in their relationship?
Even if they had some small following, having someone attend your wedding for the sole purpose of posting about it is beyond weird. I do get that the situation was used to give Ivy the push she needed to do what she wanted. But, it felt like there was a piece missing from that plot point throughout the entire book. If the wedding piece of the story was reduced to Ivy just getting an invite to her ex’s wedding, I don’t think it would have significantly changed the book.
Overall, I give Puck Yes a solid 3/5 stars. The spice was definitely there, and I appreciate that there is a lot of it. But more importantly, I love that the dynamics between the three characters was based on zero jealousy and equality. No one outshined the others. It would be easy for Hayes and Stefan to compete with each other and/or try to sabotage the other’s relationship with Ivy.
