Harloe Rae is back with a new series, officially entering her cowgirl era! Buckled in Barbwire is a grumpy cowboy x sunshine cowgirl, enemies to lovers marriage of convenience with plenty of angst. If you are a western romance fan, this book is for you!

The Story
Brody Benson is struggling balancing the grief of his mother’s passing, the new family dynamics, and his new responsibilities running the family business. When his father demands that he gets married in order to gain full control of the business, the grumpy billionaire sets his sights on Paisley, his little sister’s best friend.
Paisley Keaton is the definition of a sunshine character. She encourages others to express their feelings and think positively. Combined with her sparkly outfits (think LOTS of rhinestones), her outlook on life is almost sickeningly sweet. I will also say that the lack of a Juicy Couture tracksuit from the early 2000s was a missed opportunity!

The Verdict
Cowboy/Cowgirl romances are not something that I typically gravitate towards. But, this book is filled with so many other tropes that I’m obsessed with. If you’re like me on this, don’t let that deter you from this series – there is obviously a lot of cowboy/cowgirl elements, but the other elements are just as strong (if not stronger).
I really enjoyed this story. It’s filled with entertaining banter and has a happy ending, making it a fun read. It’s not my personal favorite from Harloe Rae, but if I were to rank all of her books, Buckled in Barbwire would be somewhere in the middle. (anyone interested in a post like that?) Overall, I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5. If you like the tropes in this story, you’ll definitely like this book!
