It’s Day 1 of The 12 Days of Bookmas! To kick things off, we’re talking about the third book in Tia Louise’s Be Still series. I’ve reviewed the first two books in the series, A Little Taste, and A Little Twist, earlier this year. I’ve been looking forward to this release, and it did not disappoint.
*Trigger warning: This book does deal with DV and life after trauma. I did not find it to be too much, but read at your own risk!*
**I received a free, advanced copy of this book for reviewing purposes. Thank you to the author, Tia Louise, and to Grey’s Promotions for including me in this release!**

The Story
Piper and Adam have been in the other books in the series, so they’re not really ‘new.’ But Piper especially, was a mystery. I completely forgot that Adam, the youngest of the Stone brothers, was friends with Britt, Cass, and Piper throughout school. Aiden and Alex are older than the girls, but I definitely forgot about that when reading the second book. Because they were friendlier growing up, Piper and Adam have a true long, angsty, unrequited love story with a lot of baggage attached.
Adam Stone was just 14 years old when his father died and older brother Aiden took his place as town sheriff. He turned to drugs and alcohol to cope with the loss, and his friendship with Rex only amplified those behaviors. When Rex and Piper become a couple, he stood aside and pined from a distance. But after Rex’s death and Piper gives birth to Ryan, she gives Adam an ultimatum – clean up his act or stay away. He gets pulled over by Aiden and sent to join the Navy that same night.
He comes back 5 years later a changed man – a pilot, respectable, and dedicated to his charity work to make his hometown a better place. Piper, now a single mom to son Ryan, busy running the town’s newspaper. She’s kept Adam filled in on Ryan’s milestones the entire time he was away. And Ryan looks to Adam as a father figure. Adam, being the compassionate person that he is, fills that role and then some. He never lets his ups and downs issues with Piper effect his relationship with Ryan, which would be the easy thing for him to do.

My Verdict on A Little Luck
I’ve been looking forward to this book after reading book two earlier this year. Book one is still on of my top books of the year, but the second book didn’t measure up for me. But Tia Louise shut me up fast with this one. After only a few chapters, I knew I was going to like it more than A Little Twist. Piper and Adam grabbed my attention immediately. Instead of putting the book down after a few chapters, I stayed up until 4am and read the entire book straight through.
The dynamic between Piper and Adam was intoxicating from page one. And their long, complicated history made it even better. It had some of the mystery/suspense element that hooked me in book 1, but had a different twist on it. And yes, we finally found out who is behind the signs that keep popping up all over town! Overall, this book gets 4.5 stars from me. But, this is by far my favorite cover – the models embody Piper and Adam so perfectly. The peaceful look on her face and the adoring one on his- perfection.
