In college, I participated in a study abroad program in London. It was one of the best decisions I’d ever made. But even though I’ve crossed London off of my list of travel destinations, I would still go back in a heartbeat. Today, I thought I’d share the top 3 spots on my travel bucket list.

And, if you’re not following me on Pinterest, go check it out. My board, “Around the World,” has a lot of travel information. Also, you’ll get to see the other places I want to go! All of the resources I used in the writing of this post are also included on the corresponding Pinterest board.
Iceland
I love the cold. You may remember why from reading my ‘About‘ page,’ but Iceland in the winter sounds like my kind of place. However, I don’t think I’ll be going in the winter, or, at least not for my first trip. I’ve always thought of Iceland as a beautiful place to go on a trip, but it wasn’t until a few years ago when I came across videos on Youtube from Allison Anderson and Taylor Wynn that I considered it for a solo adventure. Since then, I’ve seen many other creators on YouTube and numerous blogs post about Iceland solo travel.

I read a blog post last year all about visiting the Askja Caldera and it became my #1 spot to visit. The post did make it seem intimidating, but so beautiful. Go check it out on GloboTreks. You’ll see what I mean. Also, I want to drive the Golden Circle and Ring Road, which are pretty ‘standard’ tourist things to do. But, from what I understand, both of those allow you to see a large amount of the country in a reasonable amount of time (some people do the Golden Circle in 1 day). I’ve also heard about stopping to visit Efstidalur Farm, which is a hotel, restaurant, and most importantly, an ice cream place.

Italy
Coming from a very Italian family has made me want to visit Italy since I was young. Plus, people in Italy would actually say my last name correctly! To all of you out there with difficult last names- you get it, right?! I honestly don’t know how I would be able to experience everything I want to in just one trip. Or even a trip that is a week or two long. I think that’s how I am no matter where I travel. I’d much rather spend a day wandering around a city just taking it all in than rushing from one thing to the next.

In Rome, I have 3 things I absolutely must see before I die. The Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, and the Catacombs. I will admit that most people that know me would probably be surprised that I want to go to the Catacombs, but something is just telling me I need to go there. I also want to visit Naples, Sicily, and Pompeii (pretty much everything along the Almafi Coast). There are a lot of other cities and destinations I’d include in my adventure, but those are the ones that come to mind first. Obviously, I would eat lots of gelato, and it would be fun to make pasta. I’ve done it before with my family, but I can’t imagine them draping spaghetti strands along the counters, tables, and chairs like we do.

Alaska
I best you thought this was going to be only international destinations, huh? Last year, my best friend went on an Alaskan cruise with her family, and her photos and stories made me want to go even more than I already did. They went dog sledding in Juneau. Who wouldn’t want to do that??? And did you know you can go on tours of glaciers? And physically go inside them? That sounds amazing. But, I’ve wanted to go to Alaska for a long time, and for one reason.

I have had a love for orcas (killer whales) since I was a little kid. I know there is a lot that can be said about orcas, both good and bad, and perhaps I will write about that in the future, but not today. My grandfather introduced the movie Free Willy to me, and I was obsessed. Even today, I have figurines of orcas on my dressers at both my apartment and my parents’ house. Each spring the waters of Alaska are filled with orcas, looking for salmon to eat, and it is a common sight to see them breaching (jumping) and playing after eating. When I make it to Alaska, the trip will absolutely be planned around the migration habits of my favorite whale.

So, there you have it! Are any of these places on your travel bucket lists? Or have you already had an adventure there? Let me know in the comments below- I’d love to hear about your experiences!

Visiting Maryland? Check out this post and find out what my 3 must-see spots in Maryland are!
I would love to see all of these places! I don’t know how you picked just three, but when you decided to go, take me with you! lol
It was more like I picked where I’d go if you handed me a plane ticket for this afternoon and told me to pick where to go. There’s tons of other places, one of them being the UK (again!). I’ve got a very long list!
I have both Iceland and Alaska on my travel bucket list. I’ve been to Italy a lot of times and I’m always ready for another trip, I can’t even make up my mind what’s my favorite place in Italy.
Very jealous! Thanks for checking out my blog, I really appreciate it!
